Hotel Reservation Deadline

Posted by Laurel Krahn

[This post has been edited to reflect an extension of the room reservation deadline from May 30th to June 2nd.]

The deadline for room reservations at the convention hotel (the Holiday Inn Select Airport in Bloomington, Minnesota) is May 30th, 2008 June 2nd, 2008. If you try to reserve a room after May 30th June 2nd, we can not guarantee that you will get the convention rate or that rooms will even be available.

Our room rates are $95 for a King or Double and $125 for a Suite. Most suites have a sitting room that is separate from the bedroom with a sleeper sofa, desk, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and second TV.

You can contact the hotel at (952) 854-9000 or (800) 465-4329. Tell them you’re with “Fourth Street Fantasy Convention” to get our room rate.

The hotel offers free shuttle service to and from the airport, free parking, and free wireless internet access (with wired access also available for free in some rooms). The hotel is part of a rewards club in case you’re interested in those or already a member of this particular club.

We have more info about the hotel on the hotel page.

If you run into any issues when making your reservation or have any questions that the hotel staff cannot answer, please get in touch with us.

I just made our reservation which took forever. Apparently they don’t have the suite prices available for Thursday and Sunday. He was fine with changing things so I got the price — it just took forever.

Now that I’ve booked a suite, let me ask. Are parties big at 4th Street? (I never attended one.) It’s been a while since I did one of the LJ/blog parties and it seems like it might be fun.

I’m sorry it took forever, but very glad to hear you were able to get the Fourth Street price for Thurs & Sun because technically I don’t know if we had our room block for those nights. I know with Convivial (also at this hotel) when one person arrived early they ended up paying a different rate and even staying in a different room because the con block was only for Fri & Sat nights or something like that. Trying to prevent that for Convivial 3, glad things worked out for you.

I don’t recall any room parties at the old Fourth Street, at least not at the ones I attended, but it’s entirely possibly I would’ve been oblivious and not known about them. Small con, no signs posted on walls, etc.

I know that a lot of people at Midwestern cons are drive-ins, but some people do fly and if you’re flying in from the West, you *have* to come on Thursday or miss almost all of Friday

I had the same experience with the room rate for the extra days- they gave me the same rate for Sunday, but they had to do something-or-other to extend the con rate for an extra day. And they said I might have to move to a different room for the last day, which won’t be much trouble since I’m on my own. I’m staying the extra night so I can be well-rested for the longish drive home. Also, blush, so I can maybe drop into the Mall)

It’s nice to call a hotel and talk to a real local person for a reservation, instead of their national desk.

The hotel’s website shows a slightly lower rate than the con rate, and they willingly gave me that when I mentioned it.

Hotel has slightly cheaper rate on their website and they gave me that when I asked.
